Diontre Thomas’s journey to becoming a trusted advocate for families is rooted in his strong
values of hard work, discipline, and service. Growing up in Denton, Texas, Diontre’s
commitment to excellence was shaped both on and off the football field. As a student-athlete at
Northwestern State University, he balanced the demands of collegiate football while earning a
Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, consistently making the honor roll for his academic
achievements.
Diontre’s passion for the law was ignited during an internship with the Natchitoches District
Attorney’s Office in Louisiana, where he gained hands-on experience that solidified his decision
to pursue a legal career. While at Southern Methodist University’s (SMU) Dedman School of
Law, Diontre further honed his legal skills through participation in legal externships and the
Criminal Defense Clinic, where he gained invaluable experience in real-world legal practice.
After earning his Juris Doctorate from SMU, Diontre began his legal career at the Kaufman
County District Attorney’s Office in Texas, where he focused on criminal law and trial
preparation. Eager to broaden his experience, he transitioned to the 2nd Judicial District
Attorney’s Office in New Mexico, where he worked on a wide range of criminal cases and
refined his negotiation and courtroom trial skills.
Today, as part of Genus Law, Diontre channels his legal experience into family law, where he is
committed to helping families navigate life’s most challenging moments. His approach to family
law is centered on achieving practical, fair, and lasting solutions for his clients, whether in
divorce, child custody, support, or other family-related matters. Diontre understands the
